Managing DirectorMagnus is a Managing Director at Pemba. Magnus has over twenty years private equity experience in originating, executing and managing investments.
Magnus joined Pemba from Cinven, a leading European private equity fund, where he was based in London and responsible for the Nordic region. At Cinven he completed investments in the business services, healthcare and industrials sectors.
Prior to Cinven, Magnus was at Intermediate Capital Group and Nomura, During this time Magnus completed transactions in a variety of sectors including consumer, healthcare, media and telecommunications.
Magnus has a Bachelor of Science (Economics) with Honours from the London School of Economics.
Mark Summerhayes

Managing DirectorMark is a Managing Director at Pemba. Mark has over 30 years of private equity, principal investing and middle market advisory experience.
Since joining Pemba in 2005 Mark has co-led the spin out of the captive fund from Pemba in 2009 , $650m fundraise in 2016 (backed by HarbourVest and a group of other global and local LPs) which established the firm as one of the leaders in its segment in Australia and NZ, followed by $400m fundraise in 2020.
Prior to joining Pemba, Mark was Managing Director of Smedvig Capital and one of the senior executives responsible for investing, managing and reporting on a diversified A$350m private equity portfolio. Before Smedvig capital, Mark co-founded SB Capital Partners, a private equity partnership, backed by Bain Capital where he spent several years advising corporates on a mix of strategy, M&A and operational improvements.
Mark has a Bachelor and Master of Arts (Economics) from Cambridge University.
Tom Matthews

Managing DirectorTom is a Managing Director at Pemba. Tom has over 20 years of experience in private equity, principal investment, investment banking and middle market advisory and valuations.
Tom has led several transactions across the platform investments of ReadyTech, Marque Group, Open Office, ONCALL, RxPx, Vets Central, Acis, Aurizn, the subsequent bolt on acquisitions and partnerships of many of these partner companies, and the exits of ReadyTech (IPO), Marque Group (trade sale) and Open Office (trade sale).
Tom joined Pemba from Sovereign Capital, the UK ‘Buy & Build’ specialist private equity fund, where he focused on investing in mid-market consolidators in the healthcare, education and business services sectors. Tom successfully completed over 50 buy and build transactions.
Before Sovereign Capital, Tom was with the Investment Banking Group at Macquarie Bank Limited, which focused on principal investment opportunities across a variety of sectors. Prior to Macquarie, Tom gained substantial transaction experience at Deloitte Corporate Finance both in Sydney and London.
Tom is a CFA charter holder, a member of the Sydney CFA Society, and also has a Masters of Applied Finance and Investment from FINSIA and a BSc (Honours) degree in Management Sciences from the London School of Economics.

Mark recently led the public-to-private transaction of MSL Solutions which was merged with Bepoz to form the Oolio Group.
Mark has over 25 years experience of analysing and investing in the technology sector with specific expertise in SaaS-based platforms. He has a track record of successfully leading various ASX IPO’s including MYOB, ELMO, Whispir and Readytech, and has led private capital raises. Mark has expertise in equity valuation, IPO processes, strategic & financial planning, investor communication and fundraising.
Prior to Pemba, Mark was Head of Research at Wilsons, a wealth advisory business with a strong niche in small-to-mid caps. He was a Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch leading the small-to-mid-cap research team, his gaming team was ranked No.1 in the All-Asia Institutional Investor survey. He was also a Director at Deutsche Bank in London where he led the European Technology Research team. Mark also worked with ABN AMRO as Head of European Software & IT Services research coverage.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) UEA in Economics, is a Fellow of CPA Australia and Graduate of the Institute of Company Directors in Australia.

Robert has over 11 years of private equity and investment banking experience in mergers & acquisitions, restructuring and equity capital markets. Robert joined Pemba Capital Partners from global investment bank Morgan Stanley where he advised private equity and corporate clients on deal mandates across a broad range of sectors including general industrials, healthcare, infrastructure & utilities and natural resources.
Prior to Morgan Stanley Robert spent two years at stockbroking firm Baillieu Holst. Robert also spent several years competing on the professional tennis circuit.

Jonathan joined Pemba from Limerston Capital, a UK based mid-market private equity fund, where he was an Investment Director and spent 5 years investing across the business services, education and healthcare sectors. Before Limerston, Jonathan worked with UK Growth Equity investor Kennet Partners and PFM Cornerstone, a Sydney based healthcare focused venture capital firm. He started his career in the Mergers & Acquisitions team at Deutsche Bank in Sydney.
Jonathan holds a Master of Business Administration (Distinction) from London Business School, a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Information Systems from Melbourne University.

With a decade of experience spanning investment banking (M&A), private equity and business development, Jack has worked extensively with ambitious businesses on M&A and growth initiatives. He brings local financial advisory expertise from roles at Houlihan Lokey and Luminis Partners, along with international experience at Moelis & Company in London.
Jack is a University of Oxford graduate, and holds a Masters from the School of Geography and the Environment.

Elle was formerly the Senior M&A Lead at Una Brands, APAC’s leading e-commerce aggregator headquartered in Singapore.
During this time, Elle led the origination, evaluation & negotiation of M&A transactions in the e-commerce and retail industry across ANZ, US & UK markets. Elle was also the Global Partnership Lead whereby she established and managed their global partnership function.
Prior, Elle was in the Executive Advisory & Leadership Consulting industry at Heidrick & Struggles International and Johnson Partners – with a focus on both Technology and Financial Services. Elle commenced her career with internships at global management consulting firm Q5.

He also led the bolt-ons of Idealpos and Deliverit for Bepoz, and Pemba’s partnership with Canadian based Curatio (and resulting merger with RxMx to create RxPx).

Before this, Philipa was a consultant within EY’s transaction financial due diligence team.

Prior to Pemba, Nick spent three and a half years at Enero Group (ASX:EGG), a portfolio of marketing and adtech companies, where he led group strategy and corporate development. He also worked closely with Enero’s portfolio companies to develop and execute their strategic plans.
Previously, Nick was a Senior Manager at Bain & Company, where he worked on projects focused on corporate strategy, innovation strategy, sales and go-to-market strategy and new product development, as well as new operating models, organisational effectiveness and major cost reduction programmes. Nick also worked extensively with private equity funds, helping them to assess potential target companies and drive value creation post-acquisition. Nick spent his early career at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, selling transaction banking technology into Australia’s largest enterprise clients.
Nick holds an MBA from London Business School, and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics and Japanese) from the University of Sydney.

Max joined Pemba from VetPartners, a PE backed vet consolidator. Max led & scaled VetPartners’ M&A function, growing the business from 32 sites to the largest vet roll-up in ANZ with 250 sites, including leading the $310m EV public to private of competitor NVC. Prior to VetPartners, Max worked in Big 4 Chartered Accounting, advising private clients in a range of industries on tax, accounting, audit, and commercial matters, as well as within the Transaction Services team advising on a number of acquisitions in the $50-$200m EV range.
Max is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales.
