Giving Back

Last week, a few of us from Pemba Capital Partners rolled up our sleeves—literally—and donated blood and plasma at our local Lifeblood centre. For some, it was a first-time experience; for others a quiet tradition. Together, we helped save up to 15 lives through our donations.

A huge shoutout to our incredible donors: Lauren Gorman, Mark Bryan, Robert Haybittel, Angus Ritchie, Rhys Jennings, and Shannon Potts.

The experience was simple, comfortable, and deeply rewarding. As one of our team members put it:

“I lay back in the recliner, hooked up to the machine, sipping chocolate milk and reading my book. I thought: This literally could not be easier.”

We’re proud to be part of the Pemba Lifeblood Team, and we encourage others to join us.

Why It Matters

According to the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, Australia needs over 1.7 million donations every year to meet demand—that’s three every minute 3. Blood and plasma donations help with:

  • Cancer and blood diseases (34%)
  • Anaemia (19%)
  • Heart and organ surgeries (18%)
  • Kidney and stomach diseases (13%)
  • Fractures and joint replacements (10%)
  • Pregnant women and children (4%)
  • Road trauma and emergencies (2%)

In 2023 alone, Lifeblood collected 1,633,788 donations, welcomed over 105,000 new donors, and distributed more than 1 million litres of blood 4.

Whether you’re a seasoned donor or needle-phobic (we get it!), there’s a place for you in this movement. Every donation counts. Every donor matters.

Let’s keep the momentum going.
